Morgan Sindall & SafeStand® team up to construct Retirement Village in Corsham

28/05/2014Morgan Sindall has won the first phase, valued at £18m, of the £60m development to construct 86 residential units on the site of the former HMS Royal Arthur Navy Training College in Corsham, Wiltshire.

Morgan Sindall approached SafeStand® to aid in reducing the access costs while helping to deliver on an already tight programme. The SafeStand® 800 4 Board system is being used to construct all the internal blockwork walls.

HMS Royal Arthur was established as a training base in 1939. The site consisted of classrooms, offices, a parade ground and an assault course. Sailors were trained at the site before returning to sea. Between 1945 and 1947, the site was used as a Polish refugee camp before the Navy took it back under its control. The land has been vacant since 1995.

The village at Royal Arthur Park has been designed by London-concept architect, Pencil and Ink and will consist of clusters of courtyard apartments built around wellbeing and social facilities
On completion, Royal Arthur Park will have 221 residential units and benefit from a range of leisure facilities, including a restaurant, library and a wellness centre, complete with pool, sauna, and treatment rooms.

Morgan Sindall has been tasked with the construction of the first phase to build 86 residential units with handover due in November 2014.
