12/12/2015 – Laing O’Rourke is heading up the extensive refurbishment at Sheffield’s Meadowhall on the interior design refurbishment which is due to be completed by the end of 2017 for client British Land.  Some £50 million is to be invested in the complex, creating distinct districts, each with a different finish including wood and punctured metal; works will also enable a number of retailers to install double height shop fronts.

SafeStand® Access Systems have been chosen to aid with working at height on the project.  Currently refurbishment includes new way finding, mall seating and lighting as well as the installation of dramatic lighting artwork.  Laing O’Rourke intends to carry out the extensive refurbishment programme out of hours to avoiding disrupting normal trading

The refurbishment marks the 25th anniversary of the Yorkshire shopping complex and will see the Meadowhall Shopping Centre become the UK’s fourth largest shopping centre, which comprises 310 shops, 50 restaurants and cafes and a multi-screen cinema.
