Safestand Redeveloping Wardour Street

17.12.2013 Safestand continues it’s repeat business work with Grangewood Brickwork Services and is being used on a mixed-use development at the Ampersand Scheme at 180 Wardour Street, headed by McLaren Construction.

The Ampersand project is a refurbishment of an existing mixed-use office block and will include four storeys of office space, aimed at occupiers from London’s creative sector, with an additional two floors of high-specification residential space, including a combination of duplex and single-storey apartments, each with terraces providing views over Oxford Street.

Finishes to the apartments will include natural stone, bronze detailing, bespoke kitchen installations and state-of-the-art fixtures and fittings.

Construction will include the demolition of the top floor, with alterations to the existing building structure.
Major modifications will include the installation of a new three-story structural steel frame and the reorientation of the main entrance, relocated to the corner of Wardour Street and Hollen Street. The remainder of the ground floor will continue as live retail throughout the construction period with one occupier being relocated as part of the redesign of the office entrance.

Conservation work will also be carried out on the Oxford Street façade, which dates back to 1885, to clean and retain the original features of the building. The project is due for completion in September 2014.

The new station will provide state of the art facilities for fire crews and have community spaces allowing members of the public access to fire safety advice. Safety Health Awareness Day – Ipswich

DSC_1669a

16.10.2013 SafeStand were invited by the HSE (Health & Safety Executive) to exhibit our Access Systems at a Safety, Health & Awareness Day (SHAD) they had organised for the 16th October 2013.

The aim of the event is to give practical, hands on advice to construction companies on key topics such as Work at Height.

The event was well attended with much interest being shown in the SafeStand Access Systems and in particular the capabilities of the SafeStand 1200 System.

Feedback on the day was that the attendees found it very informative and with regards to SafeStand, it was “good to see a system out there that ticks all the boxes”. The event was such a success that the HSE’s Nikkie Childs (Event Organiser) has asked if SafeStand would attend the event again next year.
